Term 1, 2007

THE FUTURE STARTS NOW !

Welcome to the Room 14 Blog site. It's been a beautiful,
long summer term. Room 14 children have been involved
in many different exciting learning opportunities. All are blossoming in the room 14 environment. Our academic and curriculum topics are being well covered, with noticeable improvements being acknowledged and rewarded. Only tall poppies are grown in Room 14 - this golden photo may be of tall daisies because Lesley's garden doesn't grow poppies, however the same sentiment is meant!

Early in the term one of the highlights was the Pool Party Picnic we shared with our buddy class Room 1. The weather was perfect and the company enjoyable. Since then all children in Room 14 have enjoyed a full swimming season - hardly a day has gone by without us having at least one swim. The culmination of all the swimming lessons was our Swimming Carnival.

Excitement was high while we were waiting for the carnival to start.

All is calm as we wait to get into the water safely.

Now we're ready to show the parents our awesome swimming skills!

In the Arts we have already had one field trip to the Suter Art Gallery to study Portraits.

So this week, as a follow up, we are painting our own self portraits. We've mixed paints to find a match with our skin colour, hair colour and eyes. We've looked in the mirror and tried to draw our own face shape. The portraits are looking great - almost as good as photographs!

Here are some photos of Room 14 children hard at work painting their self portraits.

Liam's portrait is amazingly like him!

Grace, this is a fabulous image of you!

Ryan's portrait is full of character, super job!

Ann, you look beautiful! Fantastic art work!

COME INTO ROOM 14 AND SEE MORE OF OUR FABULOUS PORTRAITS ON DISPLAY ON THE CLASSROOM WALLS. YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED!

Hello Room 14
Gosh it sounds like you are having a great time this year. Isn't it sad that the swimming season has finished? Never mind, maybe I'll see you at Riverside Pool one day - it doesn't matter if it's raining or sunny becuae, as you know they have a roof over their pool.
I love your portraits - they are excellent. I'd like to come and have a look at them once they're all finished.

Brilliant blog site Lesley with lots of great photos. What an invaluable resource for parents who can't get into the classroom as often as they would like. Keep up the good work.
